Latest figures to be released by Spanish lender Bankia has shown yet more promising figures for the Spanish property market. Bankia has signed up twice as many mortgages this year than it did for the whole of 2016! This is a 130% increase over a 12 month period and totals over €1.8billion, between January and August. This is compared to lending of €817 million in the whole of 2016.
During this period Bankia has agreed almost 11,000 new mortgage applications, compared to just over 5,300 for the whole of 2016. The launch of Bankia’s commission free mortgage in February has largely contributed to the upturn.
The bank began to tentatively release, its mortgage loans without commissions in January 2016. They were available to those who had their salaries paid into an account at the bank or had a pension fund there with contributions coming from a Bankia account. Self employed customers of the bank were also able to sign up, with a specific type of account tailored to them, plus another option aimed solely at customers who carry out their banking online. You can find out more about Bankia’s full range of commission free mortgage by visiting their website www.bankia.es.
